Stories and Poems List Here are some story and poem ideas, and how to prepare and tell them. There are more story ideas here than anything else. Most I haven't seen in books or on the web. All stories in this collection are large print size for easier reading to your Beavers. Audience Participation Stories Autumn Leaves — Poem: Read the poem to your Beavers. Teach them the actions to go with the poem. Then read the poem again while the Beavers perform the actions. Boy in a Toyshop, A Brown Beaver's Surprise Birthday Butter Bear — A bear who wants to make friends by being something that he isn't. This clever story uses food colouring and bleach to help make the point. Bed, The — Beavers can participate in this story about a young boy, raised under a bed; along with a dog, cat, mouse, and pig. Eric the Forgetful Elephant — This story can be told for Remembrance Day. It connects the idea that like Eric, who wore a red ribbon to remember his uncle, we wear a red poppy to remember the men and women who fought for our freedom. Frontier Thanksgiving, A Fun at the Pond Gecko — Large, medium and small animals compete at digging for water during a drought. A woman offers a prize to the winner. Gecko continues to dig long after the others have given up, but he succeeds and wins the prize. Ghost Story, A Gluttonous Wife, The — A wife doesn't want to eat, yet she gets bigger. Indian Hunter, The The Jack-o'-Lantern Story — While your Beavers get ready for Halloween, tell them the story about the origin of the pumpkin jack-o'-lantern. Little White Duck — A short, repetitive story that Beavers can quickly get into. Maligned Wolf, The — Red Riding Hood had her side of the story, but now the wolf reveals for the first time the real truth of the story.
